2022-2023 Season Overview

The U13 House League Season is divided into four phases.  The dates mentioned in the phases below are subject to change.  The four phases are:

  • Sort Outs:

The first three (3) weekends of the season (usually the month of September) are dedicated to the evaluation of players and placement on teams based on player ability.

The evaluation process for the sort outs will be conducted in an unbiased manner and based on pre-determined criteria and drills. The convenor, with the assistance of the evaluators do their best to ensure that all teams are balanced and competitive within each House level by the end of the process.

For information on the sort outs, please go to the U13 Sort out section of the KMHA website.  Additional information will be posted here as it becomes available.

  • Regular Season Play:

The U13 House League regular season consists of approximately 18-20 games plus roughly the same number of practices.  All games and practices are played primarily on weekends, however there can be the odd weekday game or practice depending on ice availability.

Typically, there is NO KMHA assigned ice between Christmas and the New Year (December 24th to January 1), however teams can choose to purchase extra ice or participate in tournaments during this period.   All teams should expect to play/practice up until December 23rd, 2022, and resume as soon as January 2nd, 2023.

During the course of the regular season, the U13 House A and U13 House C will play an interlocking schedule with teams from Nepean.  The U13 House B will play internally amongst themselves.

The Regular Season typically concludes at the end of February.

  • House League Playoffs:

The House League Playoffs will start at the conclusion of the Regular Season and typically runs for four (4) weeks, with a pause in play to accommodate March Break.

The U13 House A and U13 House C playoffs will revery to playing internally amongst themselves for the playoffs.  The playoff champion will then advance to a one game championship against the Nepean team that won the Nepean playoffs.

House League Championship week is tentatively scheduled for April 3rd to April 9th, 2023.

  • Tournaments and Exhibition Games:

During the course of the entire season, teams will have the opportunity to participate in tournaments and/or exhibition games.  Which tournaments and/or exhibition games that your child team participate is team decision that the coach will discuss at the start of the season.
