The Kanata Minor Hockey Association is looking for an individual to take on the position of Ice Scheduler beginning in the 2025/26 season (to begin shadowing as soon as possible). The Ice Scheduler is responsible for the procurement of ice time from local facilities to support the operation of the association, and for maintaining a positive relationship with the management of the local ice facilities, other associations/districts and officials. You are a representative of the general hockey public, working in the best interest of the organization on behalf of the association’s board.
Responsibilities
- Negotiate and procure ice time from local rinks in support of association activities. Through annual ice contracts
- Manage the association’s ice budget
- Maintain positive relationship with area arena managers and officials
- Responsible for scheduling team practices and games, sort outs and tryouts and other ice needs as required and directed and coordinate with other associations and HEO AA/B leagues as required for interlock and competitive ice.
- Maintains yearly goals of current burn rate
- Update scheduled and posts via the association website, communicates updates
- Provide reports to the board regarding ice utilization.
- Review all practice/game schedules
- Review ice usage reports (use to budget)
- Manage and maintain private ice contracts with various ice rental facilities
- Provide overall budget estimates and reports
- Update and maintain the KMHA Ice for Sale Website and the KMHA Scheduling website on a regular basis

- Computer-literacy and vast experience with MS Excel is essential

- Experience and knowledge of minor hockey programs is an asset
Job Requirements:
- Contribute required time which may include weekends and evenings
- Required to attend association defined meetings when required

- On average, will be roughly 20-25 + hours per week of work, although flexible working hours from home
