KMHA is pleased to announce its Return to Hockey

KMHA is pleased to announce that we are opening registration as of August 17, 2020. Due to the COVID‐19 pandemic, we cannot offer our traditional hockey program as we have done in the past. This season will be comprised of two sessions. Session One will run from October 1, 2020 until December 20, 2020. Session Two will take place between January 1, 2021 and April 4, 2021.

To guarantee your spot (s) for the season, please register by September 7, 2020.

We know these last few months have been difficult for everyone and we hope that all our hockey families are safe and healthy.  We also know that we all have many questions about how we will be proceeding with hockey this season.  As we get closer to the start in October, we will provide you with further detailed information (facility restrictions, parents being allowed to tie skates, etc.).  We appreciate your patience.

We have based our program on Hockey Eastern Ontario’s (HEO) Return to Hockey, provincial and facility guidelines.  The program is subject to change in the event that KMHA is allowed to proceed to traditional hockey.

Session One and Two are based on current HEO Return to Hockey guidelines. Should guidelines allow us to progress towards traditional hockey, Session Two will be modified to create teams through try-outs and sort-outs.  The registration fees indicated below would remain the same however there could be additional competitive tryout and team fees.

Sessions One and Two are currently based on below:

  • 12×50 minutes of ice time for U7 (Initiation)per session. The on-ice activities will be conditioning, skill development and modified scrimmages.
  • 20×50 minutes of ice time for U9 (Novice) to U15 (Bantam) per session. The on-ice activities will be conditioning, skill development and modified scrimmages.
  • For U18 (Midget), players will be able to choose between 12×50 (modified scrimmage session) or 20×50 (development and modified scrimmage) minutes of ice time per session.
  • Jerseys will not be provided.
  • At this time sort-outs and try-outs will not occur. Players will be assigned to a “group” based on their previous level of play (last season) and this year’s registration numbers. Please know, we will do our best to balance these “groups”.
  • No player/coach/parent movement can occur between “groups” (e.g., no coaching/volunteering for two teams at different levels, no affiliation).
  • Team fees are not to be charged in Session One. Should there be a desire to obtain extra ice, the costs of the extra ice will be shared amongst those who choose to participate from their group.

Health and Security Protocols

KMHA and participants must follow all the health protocols mandated by the Ontario Government, Ottawa Public Health, and the City of Ottawa

Registration

We will be offering payment options that will be fully detailed on our KMHA website prior to registration. Please note that full-time goaltenders will be given a $50 discount per session. KMHA will still offer traditional discounts for multiple player registrations and they will be divided equally into the session fees.

Again, to guarantee your spot (s) for the season, please register by September 7, 2020
